Artist & Craftsman Paradise

I think there is a misconception about the iconic Portland business Artist & Craftsman supply, and it’s this: that you need to be a “serious artist” or art student to enjoy the bounty that they have to offer. It’s simply not true. For nearly 30 years, A&C has been selling not only top-notch fine art supplies at very reasonable prices, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Whether you need pipe cleaners, felt, and glitter for kids’ crafts, postcards and note cards for a special occasion, tie-dye supplies, a picture frame for a family photo, or a panda mask, Artist & Craftsman has something for every family, and every crafter, regardless of medium.
Please, come with me on a little tour:
The original Artist & Craftsman supply is located at 540 Deering Ave in Portland. Be sure to stop in at Big Sky Bakery (right next door) when you visit. You can visit their website (and order online), Like them on Facebook, or follow them on Twitter.
Distance from the Maine State Pier: About 2.3 miles. (Don’t try to do it on foot.)
Still having trouble finding them? Here’s a map!

and who doesn’t need a panda mask?!? i like to stop in there after a hearty breakfast at bayou kitchen.
It’s funny – we live within walking distance of Bayou but we’ve never been. My son always convinces us that Big Sky is where we should be. One of these days we’ll make it in, though.
