Looking for some fun things to do to make this weekend special? Here’s a few things that I suggest:
A Celtic Christmas
(Here’s a review from the Press Herald)
AIRE (American Irish Repertory Ensemble) Presents A Child’s Christmas in Wales and The Legend of the Wren. Featuring dancers from the Stillson School of Irish Dance.
Saturday December 10 at 2 pm and 7:30 pm
Sunday December 11 at 2 pm
Visit the Lucid Stage website for details
Portland Winter Farmer’s Market
Once again this year the popular Farmer’s Market is making the move from their summer digs at Deering Oaks to the Maine Irish Heritage Center for the winter.
Saturday December 10 9 am – 1 pm
Visit the Portland Winter Farmer’s Market website for details
Picnic Holiday Craft Fair
The fine folks who have brought you the fine Picnic Indie Craft and Music fair since 2008 now bring you a special holiday edition of their great indie crafts. This is not your mother’s craft fair, but there is always some amazing stuff. A great place to pick up some funky, fantastic holiday gifts for your funky, fantastic friends.
Sunday December 11 am to 6 pm
Visit the Picnic website for location and details
Victoria Mansion Holiday Display
Call me sentimental, but visiting the amazing holiday decor at Victoria Mansion is one of my families favorite holiday traditions – and it’s a great way to support this unique Portland historic building. This year’s theme is Deck the Halls: the Carols of Christmas, and each room in the Mansion will be decorated by a professional designer inspired by a different Christmas carol from the Victorian period.
11:30 am – 4:30 pm every day now through January 8th
Visit the Victoria Mansion Christmas webpage for prices and details

You sound like you might know the answer to my question. I am looking for the coolest summer indie craft show in portland and am having a hard time finding something online. What is the summer version of PICNIC? If you have a link, I’d be much obliged!
The summer version of Picnic is . . . Picnic! They hold a big festival at Lincoln park every summer. http://www.picnicportland.com
